Deck, saltwater pool and lagoon
Kiawah Island · South Carolina

388 Governors Drive

A four-bedroom house on a quiet lagoon, nine-tenths of a mile from the sand.

Sleeps 10
4 bedrooms
Private saltwater pool
8-min bike to beach

The deck faces west, so the lagoon turns gold at seven and nobody goes inside.

We built this house for the way families actually vacation — ten people, four bathrooms, a pool you can be in from March to November, and enough rooms that the early risers and the night owls never have to negotiate. Mature oaks, magnolias and palms do the rest.

Swim season runs nine months

Saltwater, self-cleaning, flush with the boards, and heated on request — which is how it stays swimmable nine months of the year. Beyond it: unobstructed lagoon, herons at dusk, no neighbors in the sightline.

Every room ends in a window

A mahogany door with a cut-glass arch opens on a straight sightline through the living room to the water. Hardwood floors, a tray ceiling, a gas fireplace, and four Andersen panel doors that pull the deck indoors.

Off the kitchen, the sunroom's vaulted plank ceiling and skylights make it the room everyone drifts to with coffee.

“Wonderful stay with plenty of space for our two families. The pool with the lagoon behind it was a hit. Lots of wildlife — birds, alligators, lizards, deer… even an armadillo!”

Jessie W. · July 2026

“The home is beautiful, spacious, lovely heated pool, private and serene. It's a short bike ride or drive to the beach. Would definitely recommend and hope to return!”

Sandy B. · July 2026

“What a fantastic VRBO stay! The host was responsive and helpful. The kitchen was so well stocked. The beds and bathrooms were perfect. The gathering spaces were great! We'll be back!”
